TEHRAN, Iran - A senior Iranian lawmaker has warned about the US plan to sell nuclear power plants to Saudi Arabia, suggesting that the Israeli regime could be eliminated by the Saudi nuclear bombs.
"The fate of the monarchy's crown and Saudi Arabia's nuclear bomb are similarly unpredictable. Israel will be wiped out by Saudi nuclear bombs," Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh, the chairman of Irans National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, tweeted on Wednesday.
The tweet came in reaction to a new report by a U.S. congressional committee warning that the Donald Trump administration is bypassing the U.S. Congress to advance the sale of U.S. nuclear power plants to Saudi Arabia.
Security analysts are concerned that the technology would allow Saudi Arabia to produce nukes in the future, Al Jazeera reported.
There are serious concerns about the stability of the Saudi leadership under Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman due to the controversial murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi and the war in Yemen.
