YANGON, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- The number of COVID-19 infections has risen to 374 cases in Myanmar as of Friday, according to the Health and Sports Ministry.
Five more returnees from the United States, the United Arab Emirates and India tested positive on Friday night, ministry said in a statement.
Those returnees which include a 72-year-old elderly were under facility quarantine in Yangon region after their recent arrivals.
Due to the suspension of international commercial flights during the COVID-19 pandemic, the government has been bringing back its citizens stranded in foreign countries and about 10,755 Myanmar nationals have been brought back home as of Friday, according to figures from the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
COVID-19 was first detected in Myanmar on March 23 this year and six deaths were reported so far.
