JERUSALEM, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) held the first joint scientific conference on Tuesday, the Israeli Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology said.
The video conference was hosted by Israeli Science Minister Orit Farkash HaCohen and the UAE Minister of State for Advanced Technology Sarah Al Amiri.
The conference was attended by hundreds of researchers and industrialists from both countries, who held panel discussions on cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence, healthcare, agritech, energy and water.
It aimed to deepen the cooperation between Israel and the UAE in the innovation industry and boost scientific excellence in both countries, the Israeli ministry said.
"Scientific and technological collaborations will develop the strategic assets of the innovation industry and contribute significantly to the wellbeing of both countries", it said.
Israel and the UAE signed a historic normalization deal at the White House on Sept. 15, 2020, and inked an agreement for scientific cooperation one month later.
